Lanco bags the world's largest green field project

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (UNI) City-based Lanco group along with its UK based partner Blobeleq has emerged successful bidder for the first 4000 MW ultra mega project by quoting 119.6 paisa per unit as against 129.6 paisa by Reliance power and 141.2 by Tata power.

The power project would be set up at Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, which was in the series of seven ultra mega power projects being planed by the Centre.

Lanco group Chairman L Madhusudhana Rao, in a press release here said "it was possible for us to quote lower tariff only because of the size of the capacity of the project. This is a clear project without much risk and has huge coal blocks".

He said Sasan ultra mega power project would set a new trend in the power sector by distributing power throughout the country.

With this project, Lanco would have close to 10,000 mw of total capacity, including 520 mw of operating capacity.
