Kot Bhalwal jail clash; axe falls on DG(Prisons)
Jammu, Dec 18 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today transferred more than 30 administrative and police officers, including Director General of Police (Prisons) A K Mohanty who was removed from his post following the militant-police clash in high-security Kot Bhalwal jail yesterday.
A decision in this regard was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here this afternoon, offical sources told UNI.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over yesterday's police-militant clash in Kot Bhalwal jail that left at least 36 people injured, sources said.
Senior IPS officer Rajinder Tikkoo will be replacing Mr Mohanty, who has been posted as commissioner civil military liaison in the home department.
The state cabinet has approved more than 30 transfers and postings. Commissioner civil military liaison in the home department Raja Ajaz Ali will report to the home department till further posting. The post of commissioner civil military liaison has been upgraded to the level of director general of police.
Among others, Atal Dullo, Commissioner Secretary to government public works department (RB has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Secretary to government forest department against the available vacancy.
Dalip Singh, Secretary to government cooperative department, has been transferred and posted as transport commissioner vice R K Tickoo. The charge of the post of secretary cooperative department will be held by Mr S S Sahni, principal secretary, agriculture production department.
