IOA confirms Santhi's disqualification by OCA
New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Breaking its silence on the Santhi Sounderajan issue, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) today confirmed that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has decided to disqualify the Asian Games Silver medallist after she failed a gender test.
The IOA has directed Dr Manmohan Singh, Chairman, Medical commission of IOA to submit a report within 10 days.
The controversy has left many red faced as many officials were reportedly said to be in the know about the 'gender' issue of the athlete.
The IOA has asked the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to return the medal as desired by OCA.
