Indians fare poorly in ODI rankings

Dubai, Dec 18 (UNI) A 0-4 whitewash at the hands of the South Africans in the one-dayers reflected in the rankings as Men-in-Blue witnessed a sharp drop on the latest official leaderbord for ODIs by the ICC released today.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only Indian entry in the top ten of the LG ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen with the dashing stumper occupying the fifth spot while the highest run getter in the history of limited-over game, Sachin Tendulkar, sits out of the top 20 -- overtaken even by Bangladesh batsman Shahariar Nafees (19).

Nafees is the first Bangladesh player ever to achieve that feat and he has managed to retain his place in 19th spot.

Meanwhile, Aussie Michael Hussey is firm on top while West Indian all-rounder Chris Gayle has slipped to third place after a disappointing one-day series against Pakistan.

Gayle's loss is Kevin Pietersen's gain, however, as the England batsman moves up to second position as a result of Gayle's demotion.

In the bowlers tally, Harbhajan Singh drops down a place to 14th while seamer Irfan Pathan is static on 18th as no other fellow Indian appears in the top 20.

Protea Shaun Pollack rules the roos followed by Aussie ace Glenn McGrath while Nathan Bracken moves up one spot to third.

Pollock also tops the LG ICC Player Rankings for ODI all-rounders, clear of Gayle in second and Jayasuriya in third.

Despite winning the series against West Indies, Pakistan have slipped one place to fourth on the LG ICC ODI Championship. India remain at sixth spot.
