Include Khanna committee recommendations in MPD 2021: Traders

New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Demanding inclusion in the 2021 Master Plan of the Tejindra Khanna Committee recommendations and regularisation of all business establishments in Delhi that existed as on December 31 last year, the traders today decided to intensify their agitation against sealing.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the apex body of the trading community demanded inclusion of the recommendation of Tejindra Khanna Committee and issue of regularisation of all business establishments in Delhi, as existed on December 31, 2005 without any categorisation in MPD-2021 in order to protect livelihood and employment of millions of Delhi people.

Referring to various recommendations of Tejindra Khanna Committee including formation of a Delhi Vision Group under Chairmanship of the Delhi LG, formation of a Delhi Urban Regulatory Authority comprising of Town Planners, Structural Engineers and representatives of DDA and MCD, constitution of a Delhi Real Estate Commision to maintain digital data of all urban properties and to prescribe regulations and license to Property Dealers and Real Estate Agents, formation of a High Power Enforcement Agency to check menace of unauthorised constructions and a Empowered Special Task Force for Key Infrastructure Projects to monitor special projects n Delhi, the CAIT demanded that for planned development of Delhi, the recommendations of Khanna Committee should be included in MPD 2021.

Vehemently opposing continuance of sealing drive in various other states, CAIT advised its constituents of different states including UP, Haryana and Karnataka to launch aggressive agitation against respective State Governments.

The CAIT has decided to intensify its agitation in Delhi by taking the Khanna Committee recommendations to the streets in the next few days by organizing Meetings, Dharna and other agitational programmes including Rallies, exhibiting plight of Delhi traders, by way of various tableaus.

Meanwhile, traders from all over Delhi, under the aegis of the Delhi Vyapari Andolan, today held a rally in the capital against sealing. The rally was attended by leaders of several political parties including former Union Minister Vijay Goel and Sahib Singh Verma of the BJP, Mr Ramvir Singh Bidhuri of the NCP, Jai Bhagwan Goel of the Shiv Sena and several MLAs and Municipal Councillors.

Addressing the rally, Mr Goel charged that the Congress Government and courts with being become insensitive on the issue of sealing of shops and business establishments in Delhi.

''The people who set up their businesses with great labour and toil are being displaced under the sword of sealing,''Mr Goel said.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bidhuri said sealing of shops would increase unemployment. Mr Sahib Singh Verma said it was wrong to pull down shops which had been raised with hard labour.

The DVA demanded that the Government should decide what is legal and what is illegal only after the finalisation of the proposed Master Plan, rules, laws and notifications.

It also demanded that sealing of two lakh DDA flats be stopped forthwith.
