Four killed, 5 wounded as jeep falls into river Drass

Kargil, Dec 18 (UNI) At least four people were killed and five others wounded when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a river near Latoo in this border district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said a Mahindra Bolero taxi with at least nine people on board, skidded off the road and fell into river Drass at Latoo.

The vehicle was on its way from Drass to Kargil.

While five wounded were rushed to the District Hospital, Kargil in critical condition, the sources said four people were killed.

Efforts have been launched to recover the bodies of the four passengers from river Drass. Senior civil, police and Army officials have rushed to the spot.

Due to intense cold and darkness, the rescue operation has been suspended and would now be resumed tomorrow morning.
