DG prisons removed after clash in Kot Bhalwal jail
Jammu, Dec 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government today removed director general of police (prisons) A K Mohanty from his post, following yesterday's clashes in the high-security Kot Bhalwal jail.
The decision in this regard was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here this afternoon, offical sources told UNI.
Senior IPS officer Rajinder Tikkoo has been appointed to replace Mr Mohanty, who has been posted as director youth services to J K government, sources added.
The Chief Minister had expressed concern over yesterday's police-militant clash in Kot Bhalwal jail that left at least 36 people injured.
