Copper Age vessels found in MP
Bhopal, Dec 18 (UNI) Five millenia-old vessels dating back to the Copper Age have been unearthed in Gandhinagar area near the Madhya Pradesh capital.
During an excavation at Godarmau village, near the Raja Bhoj Airport and adjoining the Bhopal-Jaipur National Highway, the State Archaeology Department recently found rock paintings, vessels and other material dating back to 4,300 to 3,200 BC.
The tourist destination Manuabhan Ki Tekri, on the airport route, has also yielded rock paintings.
''The material indicates a community-based civilisation that might have contributed to the development of the Bhimbetka rock paintings. Such works of art also depict combat scenes. Further excavation will take place next month and the Centre has cleared the project,'' Senior Archaeologist D K Mathur told UNI.
