City Congress president criticises TDP statements
Vijayawada, Dec 18 (UNI) The City Congress President Pyala Somi Naidu today criticised the statements made by TDP Politburo Member Ummareddy Venkateswarulu and the party's official spokesperson N Rajakumari on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy over the latter surrendering the surplus land recently.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Naidu said the TDP has no right to ask for resignation of Dr Reddy.
He said the Congress leaders and the weakers sections hailed the Chief Minister's gesture of surrendering 310 acres of assigned land which was in his possession for a long-time.
The Congress would fully support to the government on initiating the process of reclaiming the assigned, surplus and unused lands from land grabbers and distribute it to the poor.
He also asked the TDP to voluntarily surrender the land which was grabbed during their rule.
Mr Naidu said the TDP's dream of coming back to power would be as a 'Day dream' as people were supporting the ruling party today and even appreciated the government's welfare programmes like Jalayagnam and land distribution to the landless poor.
