Blast accused seeks permission to visit election office
Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) One of the accused in the twin blast case of August 2003, today moved a miscellaneous application before the POTA court seeking permission to visit election office for filing nomination form for the forthcoming BMC election.
Counsel for the accused Ashrat Shafiq Ansari, Sushan Kunjuraman today filed the application, before the POTA Judge S S Joshi which will come up for hearing tomorrow.
Ansari, in his application, contended that he intended to contest the forthcoming BMC election in which he had to personally visit the election office at K/West Ward, Andheri (W) for filing nomination on January 8.
Two blasts--one at the Gateway of India and the other at Zaveri Bazar had rocked the metropolis on August 25, 2003, killing 54 persons and injuring 70 others.
The trial is moving on a day to day basis and is nearing completion.
Six persons, including Ansari, were arrested in this connection.
Of these, one turned approver in the case.
