Ban on sugar export eased to meet commitments

New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) The government today eased the restriction on the export of sugar to enable traders to meet prior export obligations.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Briefing reporters, Information and Broadcasting Minister told reporters that a further review of the ban would be taken up ''very shortly.'' The Minister made it clear that the lifting of the ban was limited to meeting export commitments made earlier.
