Alwar rape accused absconds on parole
Jaipur, Dec 18 (UNI) Biti Hotra Mohanty, accused of raping a German student in Alwar, is absconding after he was released on parole from Jaipur jail here.
Biti is son V B Mohanty DIG, Home Guard and Fire services in Orissa. Mr Moahnty had given Rs 50,000 as bail for his son's parole from November 20 to December 4. The police took notice when Biti failed to return after December 4.
Police director general, Jail, Omendra Bharadwaj said Biti's father had written to jail administration for extending the parole citing his son was mentally disturbed.
When the parole extension was denied, Biti's father had complained that he would take the matter to the Human Rights Commission.
Mr Bharadwaj said they have written to Cuttack police superintendent for Biti's arrest. Jaipur SP has also been given instructions to arrest the accused. The district administration has also started the process of denying bail to Biti.
When Biti was being released on parole, he was supposed to have presented himself at the Vaishali Nagar police station, which he did not do.
Biti was arrested on March 21 this year for raping a German research scholar in Alwar.
A fast track court in Alwar had sentenced Biti to seven years imprisonment on April 12.
