84th police station inaugurated
Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) The Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy today inaugurated the 84th police station at the Vinoba Bhave Nagar in North-east Mumbai to lessen the burden of police personnel and maintain law and order in the area.
Speaking at the function, Mr Roy said earlier Kurla police station had to cover a bigger geographical area and there was heavy burden on the police force. if any riot took place in the locality, police had to take help from other police stations. A total of 197 staff had been recruited for this police station, Mr Roy said adding he had made a proposal for nine new police stations in the city to the home ministry. three police stations, including Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Gorai and Goregaon had been sanctioned so far.
The new police station is having a mixed population, but majority belong to the minority community.
