6 die, 68 hurt in mishap

Dantewada, Dec 18 (UNI) Six persons were killed today and 68 injured, 14 of them severely, when the truck carrying them overturned on the Dantewada-Sukma road in Chhattisgarh's Bhusaras Ghat area.

''The accident occurred after the vehicle veered out of control,'' said District Collector R K Pisda. Three victims died on the spot.

The deceased were yet unidentified. Thirty-five of the injured were hospitalised here and the rest at Bacheli.

The lorry was carrying people here, from Dornapal township, to attend Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mahendra Karma's Salwa Judum (Peace Movement) anti-naxal rally scheduled for tomorrow.

Mr Karma, a Congress leader, visited the injured.
