5 die, 36 hurt in mishap
Dantewada, Dec 18 (UNI) Five tribals were killed and 36 injured, five of them severely, today when the truck carrying them overturned on the Dantewada-Sukma road in Chhattisgarh's Bhusaras Ghat area.
''The accident occurred after the vehicle veered out of control,'' said District Collector R K Pisda. Three victims died on the spot.
Chief Medical Officer Gambheer Singh Thakur said that one person each succumbed during treatment at hospitals here and in Kuakonda. The deceased were yet unidentified.
The lorry was carrying people here, from Dornapal township, to attend Leader of the Opposition Mahendra Karma's Salwa Judum (Peace Movement) anti-naxal rally, scheduled for tomorrow.
Mr Karma later visited the injured.
