ULFA's threat to OIL plan in Brahmaputra
Guwahati, Dec 17 (UNI) The banned ULFA today threatened to derail Oil India Limited's (OIL) plan to conduct seismic exploration of hydrocarbon in the Brahmaputra river basin.
In a published article of the outfit's mouthpiece, 'Freedom', the banned outfit criticised the Government of India for giving permission to the OIL to conduct a seismic survey in the Brahmaputra river bed ignoring growing public opposition against it.
The ULFA warned of mobilising public resistance against the OIL bid to tap Brahmaputra basin if the Indian Government chose to ignore local protest, including environmentalists against the proposed survey to be conducted by a Kajakhstan-based exploration firm contracted by the OIL.
