Two killed, Rs 1.5 lakh looted

Morena, MP, Dec 17 (UNI) Unidentified armed miscreants have killed a woman and a chowkidar and looted cash, jewellery and other materials worth over Rs 1.5 lakh from a house in Subhashpura colony in this district, police said today.

Nearly six miscreants barged into the house last night and beat up Mumtaz Begum (60) with rods killing her on the spot. The culprits beat up other family members too and Sheela, Nisha and a boy, Rana, were injured and hospitalised.

When the miscreants were escaping after carrying out dacoity, guard Bomprakash Balmik (23) tried to stop them but was killed.

Chambal range Inspector General of Police Vijay Yadav and Deputy Inspector General of Police D C Sagar rushed to the spot.

Mr Yadav said on receiving information about the incident, all routes were sealed and efforts were being made to nab the culprits with the help of sniffer dogs.

Police recovered an empty suitcase and some gold and silver items left by the miscreants at a mustard farm nearby.

According to Nisha, there were about 8-9 miscreants.
