TCS start off-shore global delivery in Uruguay

Kolkata, Dec 17: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT major, announced opening of a global delivery center in Uruguay.

A company release said here today that the new site will host over 250 employees. The site is based in the business center of the city of Montevideo, in a dedicated facility with the latest high technology world class infrastructure and security systems.

The company undertook this investment to support the rapid expansion of its Latin American business and lower risk for its clients by providing an alternative back up site in Uruguay. TCS already provides services to over 40 clients across Latin America&the United States using its existing Global Delivery centre in Uruguay.

''As we expand our operations in Latin America, which now comprise centers in Uruguay, Brazil,&Chile, we will continue to invest in infrastructure and people to provide high quality services to our clients faster,'' Executive Vice President and Head, Global Sales and Operations- TCS said N. Chandrasekaran.

The company also announced that it now has over 800 employees in Uruguay. Uruguay continues to be a critical component of our growth strategy in Latin America. ''We will continue employing in 2007 and will selectively hire the best talent in the country and train them extensively. The quality of our people is the key to our client's and eventually to our own success. Uruguay has excellent universities and talent which will provide our fuel for growth in the future,'' the company release said.
