S Sarath's 103 helps TN score 293 for 3
Rajkot, Dec 17 (UNI) An unbeaten century by S Sarath (103) and his third wicket partership of 160 runs with R Parsana (89) helped Tamil Nadu (TN) score 293 for three against Saurashtra the on the opening day of the four-day super league match at the Madhavrao Scindia Ground here today.
Tamil Nadu's seasoned player S Sharath was playing his 100th Ranji Tophy match here and made it memorable by slamming an unbeaten 103 with the help of 14 fours and one six while facing 240 balls.
At Stumps, R Satish, the Tamil Nadu, captain in place of Badrinath, was giving company to S Sarath and was unbeaten on 51.
S Badrinath, the captain of the Tamil Nadu team is unwell and R Satish is standing in for him.
Taking first strike of a good track, Tamil Nadu put up a dominating performance against Saurashtra and scored 293 for three on day one.
They lost their first wicket on 27 when M Vijay gave an easy catch to wicket keeper S Jogiyani off seamer Sandip Jobanputra.
He made 18 runs. S Anirudha, the other opener fell to S Jobanputra and trapped LBW for his individual score of 28( 5X4) and team score read 61 for two.
R Prasana and S Sarath were playing with ease and and the duo rotated the scoreboard at will, hit the lose deliveries to the fence. Both put on 160 runs for third wicket before R Prasana's delightful innings of 89 came to an end when he was dismissed by spinner K Makwana. He executed 10 boundaries and two mighty sixes while facing 201 balls. After Prasana's departure, R Satish slammed an unbeaten half century (51) in just 52 balls with eight hits to the fence.
