'Rural BPO' centres in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Dec 17: The Andhra Pradesh government will set up 'Rural BPOs (Business Process Outsourcing) centres in public-private partnership, to provide jobs to rural youth in the state next year.
Informing this to UNI, state IT Adviser C S Rao said the aim of the rural BPOs was to provide outsourcing service to the private IT companies by creating employment opportunities in the small towns and mandal headquarters, where the number of unemployed youth was high.
Stating that several IT companies have come forward to join hands with the government in this new initiative, the first of its kind in the country, he said discussions were being held with the companies in this regard.
The basic function of the rural BPOs was to provide data entry, human resource facilities, making pay-slips and other desktop works for the IT companies, he said adding that the BPOs would be set up at government schools or colleges or other government offices, where the required infrastructure facilities was already available.
The new concept to be taken up on pilot project in two or three districts would be expanded to all districts in the coming years.
The Andhra Pradesh Technology Sercices (APTS), which has taken up the project, was preparing the modalities to make the new youth employment generation scheme a success.
