Navy's marksman makes national record

Indore, Dec 17 (UNI) The Indian Navy's Sanjeev Rajput today broke a national record by a whisker by scoring 698.4 points in the 50 m Rifle (Prone) event of the 50th National Shooting Championship here and bagged the gold.

In 2002, Satguru Das (IN) secured 698 at Bangalore.

The Army's Imran Hasan Khan (695.8) was runners-up while Das (693.1) took the bronze.

In the Men's Junior category of the 50 m Rifle (Prone) event, the honours went to Naveen (590), Milan Tamang and Amit Kumar respectively.

The team honours for the 50 m Rifle (Prone) event went to the Navy (1,776 scored by Rajput, Das and Manoj Kumar), Army (1,766 scored by Susheel Chare, Surendra Singh Rathore and A M Balaji), Border Security Force (1,744 scored by M Shankar, Shamsher Singh and Ram Kumar), Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Railway, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh respectively.
