My contesting election rest on high command prerogatives:Rana

Dehra Dun, Dec 17 (UNI) Ace Shooter Jaspal Rana today rubbished reports that he would contest the forthcoming assembly polls in Uttaranchal on a BJP ticket.

However, Rana, who had won three Gold and one Silver medal in the recently concluded Doha Asian Games, said he would work as a party worker. ''My contesting the election solely depends on High command's wish,'' he told reporters at a Meet the Press function held at Uttaranchal Press Club here.

Rana's father is a BJP leader and was a former Sports Minister of Uttaranchal in the earlier BJP Government.

Expressing his dissatisfaction on the state of sports in Uttaranchal, the shooter said ''nothing'' has been done in this field by the ruling Congress Government.

Rana informed that as he has opened a Rifle Association, which had produced many talents.

He observed that a 'faulty' system that prevailed in sports administration both at Union and state governments level was solely responsible for the pathetic condition of sports, other than cricket, in the country.
