Man killed in cordon operation in Tarigam: Army
Srinagar, Dec 17 (UNI) A man was killed during a search and cordon operation at Tarigam in Kulgam area of south Kashmir early today, the Army said.
The Army Spokesperson said troops conducted a search and cordon operation in Tarigam village during the intervening night of December 16-17.
''At about 0630 hrs, an ambush party noticed a man approaching them. Despite being challenged several times by the troops, he did not stop but instead bent down leading the personnel to believe that he was taking out a weapon. The troops initially fired in the air but when he did not react, shot him in the leg. He was then shot dead,'' the spokesperson said.
The man was identified as Sonaullah Magray.
Investigations are on, he said.
Tarigam is the native village of CPM leader Mohommad Yousuf Tarigami.
