Kuwait information minister quits

KUWAIT, Dec 17 (Reuters) Kuwait's information minister tendered his resignation today, a day ahead of an expected grilling by an Islamist MP in parliament, parliament members said.

''We received information that Information Minister Mohammad al-Sanousi stepped down,'' MP Ahmad al-Shehoumi told reporters.

Analysts say the Islamist deputy will focus in his probe on a decision by Sanousi to ban some satellite television stations set up by the opposition from broadcasting in the run up to the June 29 parliamentary elections.
