Gujjars demand inclusion in most backward classes

New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) The Gujjars today demanded that the community be included in the most backward classes and representation in Parliament and state assemblies.

The members of the community at the 'Gujjar Mahakumbh' here today, emphasised the need for the socio-economic uplift.

''The Gujjar community, even though numerically significant, has not been successful in ensuring its strong growth. We need to propel the Gujjar community on fast track for faster growth and development,'' Mahakumbh Organiser and Faridabad MP Avatar Singh Bhadana said.

He said empowerment of the community is the need of the hour.

''The focus of the rally is to usher development and initiate pro-growth policies for the community,'' he added.

Members of the community from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir had converged for the Mahakumbh.
