Fisherman drown in boat capsize

Puducherry, Dec 17(UNI) A fisherman was drowned and five others injured, two of them seriously, when their boat capsized in the sea today.

Police said M Harikrishnan (28) of Veerampatinam along with four others ventured into the sea early this morning for fishing in his fibre boat. The boat capsized as the sea was rough and Harikrishnan, who sustained injuries on his head, fainted and drowned.

Four others, who also sustained injuries, were rescued by Mahendran, the brother of Harikrishnan, and others, who reached the site of incident in boats. Mahendran also sustained injuries in the process.

While, Mathivanan(35) and Prabhu(22) were admitted to the Government General Hospital here in a serious condition, Vinoth(27) Vadivel(21) and Mahendran were treated as out-patients Ariyankuppam police have registered a case. PMK legislator Anantharaman visited the hospital.
