Dy CM welcomes Japan's help for Nalanda Univ
Chandigarh, Dec 17: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi today welcomed Japan's proposal to restructure the famous Nalanda University and bring it at par with the best educational centres of the world.
''We welcome this proposal of Japan and hope that this University, which was a major centre of Buddhist learning would regain its lost glory'', Mr Modi said, addressing a media conference here after campaigning for his party candidates for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls to be held on December 20.
Japanese Prime Minister Mr Shinzo Abe, had in his meeting with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, expressed his country's desire to bring back the lost glory of Nalanda University. Dr Singh had agreed to Mr Abe's proposal that both India and Japan should jointly undertake this task.
Mr Modi assured that the Bihar government would give all assistance to Japan and the Union government for this task, as the Nalanda University was the pride of Bihar.
