DMDK activists stage demo in Puducherry
Puducherry, Dec 17 (UNI) Volunteers of the Desiya Morpukku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) from Karaikal region of the Union Territory today took out a procession here.
They staged a demonstration in front of the collectorate to condemn the two DMK legislators from the region for retracting from their agitation to boycott the winter session of the assembly.
The protestors wanted to hold the demonstration in front of the residence of the Leader of the Opposition A M H Nazeem. Since, police denied them permission, they took out the procession from the busstand and staged the stir before the collectorate.
It may be noted that all six legislators from Karaikal region cutting across partylines had taken a decision to boycott the session to protest the alleged neglect of Karaikal region by the administration.
However, after talks with Chief Minister N Rangasamy the DMK members pulled out and attended the session while the AIADMK, PMC and MDMK members boycotted the session on Friday.
The protestors also demanded the resignation of DMK legislators Nazeem and Sivakumar and Independent member Marimuthu on the issue.
