600 rounded up during night long police raid

Chennai, Dec 17: The city police have rounded up nearly 600 persons on suspicion and those with criminal records during a night long raid in different parts here to halt rising crime and rowdyism.

Police said finger prints and addresses of some of the arrested were also collected during the raid directed by City Police Commissioner Mrs Letika Saran.

Similar drill would continue, police said adding that the drive against law-breakers was due to spate of waylaying and looting by motorcyle-borne persons in broad daylight at Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur areas in the city yesterday.
