Lucknow, Dec 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is expected to move the Supreme Court against the decision of the Allahabad High Court which had ordered the state government to withdraw gunners of student leaders and contractors with a criminal background.

A division bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Mr Justice Imtiaz Murtaza and Mr Justice Amar Saran in a decision yesterday directed the state government to withdraw gunners of students leaders within 24 hours.

The High Court has given five weeks time to the state government to withdraw security of contractors and politicians. The order had come after the state government had filed an application seeking six weeks time to withdraw security.

The Court had come down heavily on the state government for providing security to persons with a criminal background and to those who were not eligible for it.

Senior Home department officials have rushed to the national capital after yesterday's direction of the Allahabad High Court to take legal opinion about moving the apex court on the issue.

As many as 2690 people which included students leaders, political activists and contractors have been provided government gunners for their personal security. It involves a lot of government expenditure.

The state government officials have been elusive to give their version following the Court's order. None of the officials were willing to make any comment on the possible scenario likley to emerge after the Court's directive.
