Union Govt will sanction allocation for customs stations

Agartala, Dec 16 (UNI) The Centre will grant Rs 5 crores for bamboo mission and all financial help will be provided for development of two land customs stations in Tripura.

Union Minister of state for industry and commerce Joyram Ramesh who arrived here yesterday on a two day visit to the state, assured the state government at a meeting at the Secretariate conference hall here last night that the state will receive Rs five crores for its bamboo mission and financial help for development of Akhaura and Srimantapur land customs stations in west district.

Tripura government had demanded that the centre grant an amount of Rs 160 crores for the development of two land customs stations of which, the union government had already given its approval for the Akhaura stations.

Mr Ramesh assured the state government that the centre would allocate funds for the development of the Srimantapur land customs station.

After visiting Bodhjungnagar industrial growth centre and Akhauraborder with Bangladesh, Mr Ramesh met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and assured of all necessary help from the union government to the state government.

At the meeting with the state government last night, Advisor of the North Eastern Council P P Srivastava and state industry and commerce minister Tapan Chakraborty and other officials were present.
