Tamil schools in Malaysia dwindling
Puducherry, Dec 16 (UNI) The number of Tamil schools in Malaysia was drastically going down, said to President World Tamils Movement, Malasyia, P K Shanmugham today.
Addressing a literary seminar here, Mr Shanmugham said about 250 years back thousands of families from Tamil Nadu had gone to Malaysia to work as labourers in agricultural fields.
The government there had provided them with the facilities of Tamil schools, Amman temples and toddy shops and none of them returned to the mother land.
Now, the situation has changed and hardly 500 Tamil schools are there in Malaysia, he said adding Tamils in Malaysia could not get higher posts and were flurishing by doing business.
No concessional schemes were there for the Indians in Malasyia's Ninth Plan, he said.
