NCC cadets strength to be increased
Gwalior, Dec 16 (UNI) National Cadet Corps (NCC) Director General Prakash S Choudhary today said the strength of NCC cadets in the country would be increased.
After the passing-out parade organised at the Women's Officers Training Academy, Lt Gen Choudhary told reporters here that the number of NCC cadets was about 13 lakh but it was being increased.
The implementation of the plan to expand the reaches of the NCC to villages and towns had started. Counselling would be provided to the cadets coming from villages and towns by NCC officers. As a part of this scheme, 50 officers were trained in New Delhi.
Besides, youths would be sent abroad as a part of the 'Youth Exchange Programme' for obtaining information about cultures of other countries.
He said the NCC will help in personality development besides providing defence training.
On public awareness campaigns by NCC cadets to comat AIDS and other social ills, he said nearly 20,000 cadets donated blood to thalassemia patients. He added that NCC cadets were always ready to work when a natural calamity occurs in the country.
