Naxal camp destroyed

Jagdalpur, Dec 16 (UNI) Police today claimed to have destroyed a naxalite camp in Bhopalpattnam area in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Ratanlal Dagi said police raided a naxalite camp at Gormunda hills yesterday. Following hour-long encounter, the ultras fled the camp. Some naxals were suspected to have been injured during the incident.

A wireless set, camera, 30 detonators, 12-bore rifle and daily use materials were seized from the spot.

Police had another encounter with naxals at Bastar district's Kolanga village last night.

On a tip-off that about 70 naxals -- belonging to Barda Dalam, Keshkal Dalam and Military Dalam -- were planning a major attack, police cordoned off Kolenga forest in Badedogar area.

The extremists fled after a two-hour-long encounter. Bloodstains near the spot indicated that some naxals were killed or injured.

A loaded gun, 25 pencil batteries, 12 multi-tester and two pins besides naxalite uniform, literature and some medicines were seized.
