MP Cong opposes proposal to hike power tariff
Bhopal, Dec 16 (UNI) Opposing the proposal to raise power tariff of domestic consumers, the Madhya Pradesh Congress today urged the state Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPSEC) to reject the proposal.
In a statement here, state Congress president Subhash Yadav said despite 1,100 MW additional power from hydro-power projects completed during the previous Congress rule and 342 MW additional cheap power from Sardar Sarovar, injustice was being meted out to domestic consumers.
He expressed surprised that domestic power tariff was being raised to meet the loss of electricity distribution companies, while non-domestic power tariff was being reduced.
Alleging the state government of adopting double standards, he urged the MPSEC to reject the proposal.
