New Delhi, Dec 16: The Janata Dal (United) will hold a 'Vishal Chetna Sammelan (Awareness Conference)' tomorrow to protest atrocities against farmers, workers and traders in the name of Special Economic Zones and sealing.

JD(U) General Secretary Javed Raja said today that under economic liberalisation policy, the UPA governemnt was forcibly acquiring fertile lands from farmers and giving them to industrialists and Multinational Companies for SEZs. This was not only causing distress to the farmers but also threatening their foodgrain security.

Similarly, lakhs of traders were being denied their right to livelihood in the name of sealing in Delhi and other metro cities.

The traditional markets are being destroyed so that Indian and Foreign companies could have control over the retail markets, he pointed out and said all this was bringing the country on the verge of destruction.

The JD(U) through this conference would demand that all SEZ Act be quashed, land returned to farmers and sealing be stopped. The party also demanded that big industrial houses should be stopped from entering retail markets.

The Conference would be addressed by JD(U) President Sharad Yadav, Apna Dal President Sonelal Patel, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dindsa, Shetkari Kamgar Paksh President Jayant Patil, and JD(U) General Secretaries K C Tyagi, Dr Shambhu Srivastava, Javed Raza, Arun Kumar Srivastava, party secretary Virendra Singh Bidhuri and former Chief Minister of Bihar and JD(U) Kisan Sabha President Jagannath Mishra and many other leaders.
