Jaish Top commaner among five killed in J and K
Srinagar, Dec 16 (UNI) A top Jaish commander and two other militants among five were killed and five ultras arrested in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.
The official said security forces killed a self-styled district commander of Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in an encounter at Basan area in Udhampur district of the Jammu region.
The encounter ensued after a search operation team was attacked by militants. A pistol, two magazines, 20 rounds, a hand grenade, a binocular, a mobile set and a diary were recovered from the slain commander.
He was involved in several militancy-related incidents, the official said, adding in a similar encounter security forces gunned down two militants at Mankote in Poonch district recovering two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition from slain militants.
Meanwhile, militants shot dead a resident of Patoli Draj, Parveen Akhteer, and her guest, Liyaqat, in Poonch district of the Jammu region.
Security forces apprehended five militants in two different operations in North Kashmir.
