Dacoits decamp with booty worth laths in TN
Perambalur, Tamil Nadu, Dec 15 (UNI) A four-member unidentified gang attacked the two jewellery merchants and robbed golden ornaments and cash worth Rs several lakh in an isolated location near Sadaikkanpatti village, about 25 km from here, late this evening.
Police sources said the jewellery merchants R Ashok Kumar(38) and his brother E Subash Chand(36), hailing from Villupuram, used to supply gold ornaments to the jewellery shops in and around Perambalur.
The merchants, while proceeding in a car to Perambalur, after supplying some ornaments to the jewellery shops, were waylaid by the gang at the isolated location and looted the duo.
Acting on the information, Perambalur Superintendent of Police, Prem Anand Sinha and senior police officials rushed to the spot.
A red-alert had been sounded throughout the State to nab the culprits. Further investigation was underway, police added UNI GSM KVV SB PM0027
