Arogya cards for students ready for distribution
Udupi, Karnataka, Dec 16 (UNI) Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti today said the free Arogya cards for all students from first standard to seventh standard of both Government and aided schools in the State was ready for distribution.
Inaugurating a State level conference of headmasters and principals of high schools and composite pre-university college here, he said that under the new scheme launched by the coalition Government, free treatment would be provided to children suffering from serious diseases like cancer and cardiac problems in association with Narayana Hrudayalaya of Bangalore.
The Minister said the Government had issued a G.O on Thursday last to pay an ex-gratia of Rs 200 to the teachers of primary and high schools of Government and aided schools in the State.
He said that of the total vacancies of 800 headmaster posts in Government high schools, 558 have been filled up this year. The Government would appoint 13,146 teachers to primary and elementary schools by April next year. The Finance Ministry had sanctioned Rs 250 crore for providing infrastructure faciities in aided schools and Rs 25 crore for taking up repair works.
