The idol, dating back to the Mughal period and priced at approximately Rs two to three crore, was recovered from two people in the Jama Masjid area last evening when they had come to strike a deal for this idol in the market.
The duo, 46-year-old Jawad Hassan and Prahlad Sahay, were arrested and a case registered against them under the Antiquities and Art Treasurers Act, 1972, police said.
