16 teams to play in Federation Cup

Kolkata, Dec 16 (UNI) Sixteen clubs will vie for the winners cheque of Rs 12 lakh in the Federation Cup beginning here Monday.

Announcing this here today, Garry Lovejoy, COO Zee Sports said, '' Sixteen teams will participate in the 28th edition of Federation Cup. All the matches would be telecast live and exclusive on Zee Sports.'' IFA Secretary Subrata Dutta said, ''IFA is delighted to host this edition of the Peerless Federation Cup. We hope to dish out some entertaining matches during the tournament.'' The teams playing the tournament are East Bengal, Mohun bagan, Mahindra United, Sporting Clube de Goa, Salgaocar, ViVA Kerala, Army XI, Md Sporting, Dempo SC, HAL, Chirag United, Vasco SC, SBT, JCT, Air India and Churchill brothers.

The runners up will get a purse of Rs 7 lakh, while the quarter final winners get Rs 60,000 each and pre-quarterfinal winners Rs 30,000 each. The Fair Play Team gets Rs 50,000 cash award.
