Two groups clash over piece of land near place of worship
Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Dec 15 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Khajamalai area in the city, following a clash between two communities over a piece of land near a place of worship today.
Police said the trouble sufaced, when a sitting concillor of the Tiruchirapalli city corporation attempted to dig the ground in a piece of land near a place of worship for constructing a toilet.
It was objected to by the other community members stating that the land belonged to the Jamaath.
The councillor claimed that the land belonged to his wife. It was alleged two persons were injured in stone pelting between the two groups. On information, senior police officials reached the spot along with a large number of police force and defused the situation.
Police are holding talks with the people of both sides to settle the issue amicably.
