TTD Chairman inaugurates Sravanam Institute

Tirupati, Dec 15 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Trust Board Chairman B Karunakar Reddy today inaugurated the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Hearing (Sravanam) for children.

Speaking on the occasion, he said TTD started the Sravanam Institute for children to identify and remedy the deafness early in life to enable the the children to grow up normally.

Mr Reddy said the Institute was created to abolish deaf schools in future and development in science and technology have proved, if children with hearing impairments were identified and diagnoised soon, they will become normal in three to five years time.

He said Trust Board had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the Sravanam project.

The Chennai-based Bala Vidyalaya Director Sarswati Narayanaswamy, is voluntarly providing expertise and training the children, their mothers and TTD personnel for the project, he added.

TTD Executive Officer APVN Sarma said the project would add to the scores of Institutes run by TTD as its social responsibility.

TTD JEO G Balaramaiah said the Institute here is the first of its kind established in Andhra Pradesh.
