TRS to press for Governor's intervention

Hyderabad, Dec 15 (UNI) Asserting that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who had held assigned land in violation of law could not continue in office, Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) President K Chandrasekar Rao today announced that his party would step up stir with like-minded parties within and outside the State Assembly and also take the issue to the National capital.

Talking to newspersons here this evening, Mr Rao said he would lead a party delegation to the Raj Bhavan to press for the dismissal of Dr Reddy, who along with his family, had enjoyed the benefits of assigned land for over 30 years.

The party would move the Election Commission and explore legal options against Dr Reddy, who had allegedly suppressed in his affidavit filed at the time of the assembly elections the fact that he had ten acres of land in his own name.

''If he (Dr Reddy) has faith in democratic values, he should step down from the post voluntarily'', Mr Rao demanded, adding that the Congress High Command should immediately remove him as the ruling party had become a ''laughing stock'' in the midst of the people., Accusing the ruling party of exhibiting ''feudalistic tendencies'', he said it was unfortunate that a minister was threatening an opposition party member that ''he would sever the latter's hand''.

He demanded that the Government unearth all lands encroached by influential people and distribute them to the poor.
