Sher Khan hockey for U-21 juniors
Bhopal, Dec 15 (UNI) Fourteen prominent teams will take part in the all India under 21 junior hockey championship being organised here from tomorrow in memory of veteran Olympian Ahmed Sher Khan.
The matches will be held on league-cum-knockout basis, said former Olympian and Tournament Committee President Aslam Sher Khan.
Ahmed Sher Khan was the first hockey Olympian from Bhopal and had won gold in 1936 Berlin Olympics. The tournament will be organised every year in memory of the olympian.
Prominent teams participating in the 10-day event include Namdhari, SAIL, SAI-Bhopal, Vidarbha XI, MP XI and SAI-Lucknow.
The inaugural match will be played between SAI-Lucknow and Vidarbha Eleven at SAI centre at Bishenkhedi at city outskirts he said.
