Saplings planted for trees chopped down during Kalam's visit
Kochi, Dec 15 (UNI) The district administration today planted saplings for trees chopped down during President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to Kerala last time.
This follows instructions from the office of the President, who will be in Kerala next week on a visit.
Ernakulam District Collector A P M Mohammad Hanish told UNI that around 50 saplings of flowering and fruit bearing trees were planted.
''In a message from the President's office, Dr Kalam has expressed his intention to see the planted saplings on his arrival here,'' Mr Hanish added.
Yesterday, the President's press secretary conveyed Dr Kalam's instructions to plant three times the number of saplings for the three flowering 'gulmohar trees'which were chopped down for constructing a helipad here.
