Retender for Vizhinjam port soon

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 15 (UNI) A fresh global tender will be floated for the development of Vizhinjan International Container Terminal in view of the denial of security clearance by the Centre for the Chinese consortium that won the earlier bid.

After an all-party meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said the Government would explore all the options for implementing the project as early as possible.

Besides taking steps to invite global tender, the Government would also create preliminary infrastructure facilities like electricity and road connection.

Port Minister M Vijayakumar said there would be a clear understanding with the Centre during the process of floating retender in order to avoid further delay.

The Opposition also extended full support to the Government to implement the project in a transparent manner.
