''Princess Diana was neither engaged to Dodi nor pregnant''

London, Dec 15 (UNI) While the Lord Stevens Committee, investigation Princess Diana's death, concluded that the fatal crash in which she dead, a decade ago, was an accident, details reveal that the Princess was neither engaged to Dodi Al Fayed, nor was she pregnant at the time of her tragic death.

Columnist Richard Kay, one of the last person to speak to the Princess before the tragedy, wrote today: "Contrary to what Mohamad Al Fayed would have us believe, the future was never going to be with his son Dodi. But Diana could well have married Hasnat Khan, the quietly spoken heart surgeon whom she had met and fallen in love with through her visits to the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

"Their near two year relationship, however, had ended by the time she met the son of the Harrods tycoon in July 1997." The revelations came after the three crucial people spoke for the first time to the Stevens investigators. They include Dr Hasnat Khan, Diana's elder sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale and late Sir Jimmy Goldsmith's daughter Jemima, who at that time was married to Pakistani cricket idol and politician Imran Khan.

Jemima told the investigators: "Diana and I had a discussion about how difficult a relationship with a Pakistani man could be." She revealed that during her visit to Pakistan in June 1997 with Princess Diana, the latter went to meet Dr Hasnat's family, in particular his mother. She was very emotionally involved with Hasnat at that time." About her involvement with Dr Hasnat, Kay writes: "It was sheer bad luck that she had fallen in love with a man whose religion was Islam, clearly a highly complicating issue for the mother of a future King." "Dodi was just a dalliance, someone, as she told Jemima's mother Lady Annabel Goldsmith, with whom she could simply 'have a wonderful time.'" Kay, who was questioned by the investigators told of his conversation with the Princess: "I recall her wonderful laugh when I told her that those famous pictures of her in a leopard print swimsuit had been poured over after she had told the paparazzi they would be in for a big surprise. 'What do they say, Ricardo,' she asked? 'That you're pregnant, I replied.' Between laughter she said: 'Don't people realise what happens to a chick's tummy after she has babies? I've had two boys for goodness sake, of course my tummy isn't flat.' MORE UNI XC MS HT1937
