Police constable remanded to two days custody
Akola, Dec 15 (UNI) Police constable Niranjan Khandare (51), who was arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a young divorced woman at Sati Aasola village under Patur police station in Akola district, was remanded to police custody for two days.
Khandare, who was produced before the magistrate yesterday, was booked under sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging the modesty) of a woman and 324 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to police, Khandare in a drunken state, had gone to the 26-year-old divorced woman's house on December 13 and tried to allegedly molest her.
When the woman resisted, the accused allegedly outraged her modesty and also beat UP, police said.
Khandare was beaten up by a mob and handed over to police after the woman raised an alarm.
He was also paraded naked before the villagers before being handed over to the police, who booked him for sexual exploitation.
