Pakistan to host Women's World Cup Qualifiers

Lahore, Dec 15 (UNI) Pakistan will host the qualifiers for the 2009 Women's World Cup to be held in India.

The qualifiers will be played late next year and eight teams -- Pakistan, South Africa, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Zimbabwe -- would be contesting for a berth in the main event.

The top two teams will qualify for the World Cup, the PCB said in a statement.

The ICC has granted the qualifiers as a result of major development work being done for Women's Cricket in the Asia Region.

The exact timelines of the qualifiers will be defined in due course.
